Everyone knows if you want to make it big as a model in the UK, you need to head to London. The capital boasts branches of the world’s biggest agencies as well as several smaller boutique agencies that offer a more personal service. Here’s our guide to the top London modelling agencies:

 

1. Elite London

Elite was founded in 1972 in Paris and boasts big names including Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell among its successes. The hottest new faces represented by Elite London include Kendall Jenner, Natalie Westling, Molly Blair, Greta Varlese and Amilna Estevao. The company now operates in over 30 countries worldwide. Elite holds open casting calls between 10am -12pm and 2pm – 4pm, Monday to Friday. Elite also runs a global annual modelling contest, the Elite Model Look, with over 350,000 participants. Elite accepts female models aged 15-24 and male models aged 15-28. Scouting for Elite Model Look is conducted on their Instagram page @eml_uk as well as music festivals, gigs and other events around the UK.

2. Models 1

Models 1 was established in London in 1968, starting with only three models and later going on to represent some of the biggest names in the business including Yasmin Le Bon and Twiggy.

Models 1 is the biggest modelling agency in Europe and represents male and female models and has a plus-size division, Curve. Applications are welcome online. Women must be at least 5’8”, men must be at least 5’11” and Curve applicants should be a size 14 or above.

3. FM Model Agency
FM London is based on Fashion Street in London’s East End where it was originally founded in the ‘60s. FM prides itself on being a long-established modelling agency with a modern and personal approach.

Would-be models are encouraged to apply online or come along to open calls, held Monday to Friday between 3 and 4pm. Female applicants must have a minimum height of 5’8” and 6’ for male applicants.

4. Storm Model Management

Storm was founded in 1987 with the backing of Richard Branson and represents a number of hot fashion and celebrity names including Alexa Chung, Lily Cole, Cara Delevingne and Kate Moss.

Models can apply online or visit without an appointment Monday to Friday between 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm. Founder Sarah Doukas regularly scouts for talent around London shopping areas – Jourdan Dunn was found by Storm in a branch of Primark.

5. Nevs Model Agency

Nevs was founded in 1971 by Neville Gates on Kings Road, London and represents a wide range of models with different looks and styles, aged from 16 to 60. Somewhat uniquely, Nevs also represents online celebrity models with a high following on Instagram.

Applications are accepted via post, e-mail and there is a walk in session every Monday to Friday between 10am and 12 noon.

6. IMG London

IMG is an international model management firm with offices in New York, Paris, Milan, Sydney and London. IMG represents big name models and celebrities including Gisele Bündchen, Milla Jovovich and Miranda Kerr.

IMG no longer offers open calls and applications must be submitted via the website. Both male and female applicants are welcome. IMG has also been known to scout models via Instagram.

7. Select Model Management

Select was founded in London in 1977 and has represented models including Devon Aoki, Sienna Miller, Pixie Geldof and Stella Tennant. Select was one of the first agencies to find models by scouting on the street.

Select is one of the few agencies that accept shorter models, representing some models as short as 5’7”. Applicants can use the online form or turn up for an open call Monday to Friday between 10am to 12 noon and 2 to 4pm.

8. Wilhelmina London

Whilhelmina Models was founded in 1967 by Dutch supermodel Wilhelmina Cooper. The London branch opened in January 2015.

Wilhelmina Models has several divisions including Men, Women, plus size, fitness, and children.

Models are welcome to submit photographs via the website. The London office does not currently offer open calls. Applicants must be aged 15 or above and have a height of at least 5’9” for women and 6’ for men.

9. Premier Model Management

Premier Model Management was established in 1981 and has represented models including Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Claudia Schiffer and Cindy Crawford.

Premier represents both male and female models. Women must be at least 5’8” and men, 5’11”. Photos can be submitted online or models are welcome to attend an open call from Monday to Friday between 10am and 12 noon.

10. Oxygen Model Management

Oxygen is a Chelsea-based boutique modelling agency that offers a personal approach from a close-knit team. The company was founded in 2000 and represents both men and women for commercial and editorial work.

Models can either send photographs or visit between 10am and 12noon, Monday to Friday. Minimum height for women is 5’8” and 6’ for men.
