In a fashion first, British designer and climate change activist Vivienne Westwood has teamed up with magazine Marie Claire to design an exclusive dress for eco-label People Tree.

To mark 2011 as ‘the International Year of the Forests’ Vivienne Westwood has designed a t-shirt dress for Marie Claire, in partnership with People Tree, who will be producing the item from 100% organic fair trade cotton. All proceeds from the t-shirt dress will support forest tribes in Bangladesh, whose lives have been affected by deforestation.

The collaborative fashion item has been released in line with a guest Rainforest editorial from Dame Vivienne in May 2011’s Marie Claire issues worldwide. The dress costs £28, with £7 from each piece sold going to the cause.
