Celebrities are taking off their shoes and donating them to charity in the name of Small Steps – a campaign that helps raise awareness and aid for children working on landfill sites. Amongst the big fashion names are Sarah Jessica Parker, Eva Green, Vivienne Westwood, Colin Firth, Sophie Dahl and Sienna Miller, who have donated their favourite pair of shoes to be auctioned for the cause.

The charity was set up by celebrity journalist Amy Hanson after an eye-opening visit to Cambodia in 2008. She said: “After working in show-business for so long, I knew how much food, alcohol and luxury goods were wasted in the industry. The amount that we waste is causing such harm to not only the planet, but to lives on the other side of the world – and we don’t even realise it.”

The shoe auction is set to take place at the Royal Society of Medicine on 8th October 2011, with all money raised going to Small Steps. For more details visit
