Highstreet fashion retailer River Island has announced a new capsule collection in collaboration with street artist Felipe Pantone.
The collection includes two artworks specially created for the line, printed onto denim jackets with matching loose-fit jeans. The jackets are inspired by the back-print jackets worn in ‘80s b-boy culture.
Two different jackets are available in oversized fits in mid-stonewash or white, reflecting the most popular denim colours of the ‘80s.
Felipe Pantone is a respected Argentinian-Spanish street artist and he created the artworks by cut and paste layering of printed fabrics to produce a three-dimensional effect.
Pantone said about the collaboration: “I have wanted to work on a clothing project for a while, so when River Island approached me it was perfect timing. Art raises questions and design creates solutions. I wanted to bring these two-forms of expression together to create something that is as much about statement as it is about utility.”
The capsule collection is available now from riverisland.com. The jackets are priced at £65 and the matching jeans are £50.
