Red Wing release the Merchant Oxford for SS17

Red Wing shoes have released their latest work boot for Spring/Summer 2017 – the Merchant Oxford, a style available exclusively in Europe in two colour ways.

The Merchant is inspired by an original work boot style from 1920 with updated modern detailing. The look is streamlined and designed to look good and stay comfortable all day, with triple-stitched leather and a Chemigum cork sole that is both durable and lightweight.

The Red Wing Shoe Company was founded by Charles Beckham, who worked as a merchant in Red Wing, Minnesota at the start of the 20th century. Beckham couldn’t find work boots that were both durable and comfortable enough for all-day wear, so he started making boots without a toe-box for a more comfortable fit. The Merchant was designed more than a century later, as a tribute to Charles Beckham.

The Merchant is available in two colour ways: Ebony Harness, and Olive Mohave. Retail price is £249 and the shoes can be bought online from or from the flagship Red Wing London store at the corner of Newburgh Street and Ganton Street, just off Carnaby Street.
