This August, ABC is scheduled to air a commemorative documentary to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Diana Princess of Wales’s death. The four-hour documentary spread over two nights is a collaboration between both ABC and People magazine, showing interviews with Diana’s closest associates as well as archival footage.

Princess Diana experts are set to examine her considerable legacy twenty years after her controversial death in a car in Paris on 31st August 1997, at the age of 36. The event left the nation distraught and somewhat bewildered at the facts surrounding the entire investigation.

People Magazine editor in chief Jess Cagle, offered a titbit as to why they have decided to collaborate and produce the intriguing documentary. Cagle explained that Princess Diana has appeared on the cover of People a grand total of fifty-seven times which is more than anyone in the history of the magazine, a true testament to her legacy. She continued, “our audience has an insatiable appetite for news about the royal family; in fact, they are just as fascinated today as they were when Lady Diana was first introduced to the world back in 1981.”
