Petersham Nurseries has announced it will be opening a new location in London’s Covent Garden.
The 16,000 sq ft space, located in the new Kings Court development, will include a home and garden shop, deli, wine cellar, and florist, and two restaurants: The Petersham and La Goccia.
The Petersham restaurant will be run by executive chef Simon Whiteley and will be open for lunch, dinner, and afternoon tea, with a menu inspired by the slow food movement. La Goccia will be open all day to serve cocktails, aperitifs, and meals from the open grill and wood-burning oven. The produce for both restaurants is likely be sourced from Haye Farm – an organic farm supplying meat, fruit, and vegetables to the current Petersham Nurseries.
The delicatessen will be inspired by traditional Italian grocery stores, stocking artisanal products, fresh pasta and sauces, sandwiches, coffee, and cold-pressed juices. The wine cellar will offer the services of in-house sommeliers and will host wine tastings and wine lunches.
The café at the original Petersham Nurseries was awarded a Michelin star in 2011 and became a favourite with celebrities, attracting stars including Madonna, Mick Jagger, Richard E Grant, and Stella McCartney.
The retail spaces are planned to open in June and the restaurants will open in September.
