Oxford Street Debenhams gets a makeover

Debenhams’ flagship store on Oxford Street has been given a £25million revamp, just in time for Christmas.

The store has long dominated the top of Oxford Street, with ceiling to floor windows stretching the length of the shop, enticing eager shoppers into the department store in search of that perfect Christmas gift.

The makeover on the seven storey building took a year to complete, but was well worth the wait. The store now includes an extra floor of trading space, a glass atrium ceiling and the retailer’s largest ever beauty hall, shoe department and lingerie department. The menswear section has seen a big change too, being boosted from the basement up to the first floor, and offers a new designer collection from Savile Row’s Patrick Grant.

With the refurbishment creating an extra 20,000 sq ft of selling (and shopping!) space, we can only imagine how many more Christmas goodies have been given a home in the shop…
