London Olympics 2012: London retailers set to make extra £750 million

Tills are set to ring in the capital thanks to the London Olympics 2012. Official sponsor Visa have estimated that retailers in the capital will make an extra £750 million during the seven week period.

In a report called ‘A Golden Opportunity: London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games Expenditure and Economic Impact’, Visa state that Britain will see an influx of spending from foreign visitors and tourists, all wanting to pick up the best of British.

High street fashion stores are expected to come out on top, drawing in £184.8 million from the increased traffic, with London’s Bond Street, Oxford Circus and Regent Street alone expecting to see an increase of £16.6 million as a direct result of the Games, according to the New West End Co.
