Sorry dog lovers, but cats are mostly definitely the animals du jour – witness Three’s latest #SingItKitty advert, or even American Vogue’s The Cat and the Flat editorial shoot. Feline fever hit the capital this week with the long-awaited opening of the London cat cafe Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium on Bethnal Green Road in Shoreditch. The arrival of this kitty establishment was so highly anticipated that it is now fully booked until 17th March, so deprived are we garden-less flat-dwelling folk of feline company.
As well as the expected roster of tea, coffee and cake, visitors to Lady Dinah’s can expect a charge of £5 for a trip to the cat play room where the 11 kitties in residence (all previously in rescue centres) hang out. The tea room itself is also cat-friendly, with scratching posts and things to climb on. If you’re concerned about cat welfare, you will be pleased to know that the cats can escape to a cats-only garden when all the attention gets too much.
Can’t wait until March 17th for a trip? Check out the cafe’s live kittycam.
