Landrover Classic has announced the creation of a one-off Defender, which will form the centerpiece of the new Selfridges menswear department.
The car’s interior features “period-style” seats with chocolate leather upholstery and ivory cross-stitching, and the Soft Top exterior is finished in Bronze Green with a branded hood in Selfridges yellow.
After production, the car was disassembled to fit through the store window, and it is currently being rebuilt on the shop floor before it will be placed under a protective cover as remodeling of the floor takes place over the next few weeks.
The Land Rover Defender Works V8 Selfridges Edition started out as a 2016 Defender 110 Pickup and was converted into a 110 Soft Top. It’s not all style over substance either, featuring a 399bhp V8 and an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission.
JLR Classic Director, Tim Hannig, said: “Our skilled engineers and craftsmen can tailor vehicles to meet any request, from applying unique paintwork or interior trim to delivering far-reaching mechanical enhancements. The Selfridges Edition shows what can be achieved and we can’t wait to see it take pride of place in the famous department store.”
The new Selfridges menswear department is scheduled to open on October 29.
