Contemporary menswear and streetwear show, Jacket Required, has dedicated a third of the show this year to sustainable brands. The new layout will include three showrooms, one of which is dedicated to sustainable fashion brands, including RÆBURN, Thalassophy, Bjanko Milano, Daisy King Club, Dedicated Brand, Komodo, United Change Makers (UCM), TOMS, Dashel, and Ucon Acrobatics.
RÆBURN will be presenting its AW20 collections at the show and is also hosting an installation in collaboration with Icelandic photographer Ragnar Axelsson (“Rax”). Rax has been photographing the people, animals, and landscapes of the most remote regions of the Arctic for over 40 years. RÆBURN has printed images by RAX onto 100% RÆCYCLED cotton-feel polyesters and silk habotai. The prints represent the beauty of the Arctic as well as the immediate threat of global warming. CARCASS is an extension of the RÆMADE concept, ensuring every scrap of each recycled garment is used, adding nothing new but branded labels and thread.
Christopher Raeburn, Creative Director of RÆBURN, said: “Ragnar’s work cut through from the moment I saw his first London exhibition back in 2010; stark images capturing a disappearing world that left me both inspired and chastened in equal measure. Mother Nature is fighting a battle that can no longer be won with odds so firmly stacked against her. Ragnar’s images challenge humanity to consider their actions and make positive changes before it’s too late.”
Jacket Required will also be launching a new label by Sustainable Ambassador, Phil Wildbore. The label, United Change Makers, is a capsule collection of timeless styles that will last from season to season. The label has a close relationship with sourcing teams and factories that are passionate about high-quality sustainable fabrics.
Jacket Required will take place in the Old Truman Brewery, East London, on the 22nd – 23rd January. The full brand list and further information is available at www.jacket-required.com
