Croydon Vs. The World is a new fashion label from Jonny Rose, founder of technology startup cluster and community retail and arts revolution.

In the past year alone, Croydon has seen three new major art galleries and has hosted original exhibitions from Banksy and Damien Hirst. There are also plans for the UK’s largest underground art gallery to open in 2019. By the end of the year there will have been 14 music festivals and BOXPARK is moving from Shoreditch to Croydon this summer. In 2020, Westfield Croydon is due to open.

The borough has also seen a technology startup boom, becoming “London’s fastest-growing tech cluster” in 2014, according to the ONS. Croydon is now home to over a thousand early-stage and scale-up tech, digital and creative companies.

Croydon isn’t short on fashion talent, either. Renowned designer John Rocha trained at the Croydon School of Art and supermodel Kate Moss famously hails from the South London borough.

All of this activity means that now is the time for a dedicated Croydon fashion label according to Jonny:

“Croydon has historically been perceived as quite an uncool area that no-one wanted to admit they were from. That’s all changed: Croydon is cool. Tech companies are moving here, new art galleries are opening up, people are proud to say that they’re from Croydon – now is the time for a brand that reflects that.”
