From today, Burberry’s Makers House – the Soho venue for its runway-to-retail London Fashion Week show – opens to the public.
Located at 1 Manette Street and open until Tuesday 27th September, the initiative has been created in collaboration with The New Craftsmen, who have selected Britain’s finest craft makers to bring to life the inspiration behind the Burberry runway collection through an exciting programme of activity and installations.
“This week long exhibition aims to nod both to the design heritage that is so integral to Burberry’s identity, and to some of Britain’s most exciting creators, and the innovation and inspiration behind their work,” explained Burberry’s Christopher Bailey. Natalie Melton from The News Craftsmen added, “To be trusted with bringing Christopher’s vision to life displays a recognition from both companies of the importance of craft, materiality, process and people.”
Walk-ins are welcome, and visitors can expect to see embroiderers, silversmiths, portraitists and calligraphers, as well as sculptors, The Royal School of Needlework and British military archivists. Head to Burberry’s website to find out more about the programme of events and information about tickets.
