The Arcadia group is the latest of the high street big hitters to announce it is banning the use of angora.
Arcadia’s stores that will no longer carry the material include Miss Selfridge, BHS, Dorothy Perkins and Wallis. Topshop paused the sourcing of angora products in December.
Other retailers who have taken action against angora include John Lewis, H&M and ASOS, after animal rights campaigners PETA revealed videos of rabbits being abused in Chinese angora farms.
The impact of the ban is already being felt by suppliers; Beijing News reported that angora farmers had seen a 30% drop in European angora orders with South China Morning Post noting that some Chinese angora farms face closure from lack of demand.
