Alexander McQueen Pre Autumn/Winter 2013 Collection

Alexander McQueen will not host a catwalk show during the next round of collections, but the Pre AW13 collection proved that the brand’s creations more than speak for themselves as works of fashion art. Designer Sarah Burton, who is heavily pregnant with twins, was inspired by research into the low church, puritans, nuns and popes, giving the lineup an ecclesiastical twist with high collars, capes and caped-sleeve gowns. The colour palette was primary black and ivory, punctuated with papel red. The brand’s elegant signatures – ruffles, accentuated shoulders, nipped waists an flawless tailoring – all made an appearance.
