Samantha Benveniste founded the ‘House of Benveniste’ with the dream of bringing the highly sought-after experience of Haute Couture and Couture to women all over the world, whilst being ethically and sustainably conscious.

Samantha proudly credits her love of all things beautiful to her childhood and her obsession with the art of haute couture and craftsmanship to her years under the fashion icons and experts, Caroline Charles OBE and Bruce Oldfield OBE for which she is eternally grateful.

We caught up with Samantha for the latest in our ‘My London’ interview series.

Favourite neighbourhood:

Notting Hill – born, raised and forever in love with. Though it has changed significantly over the past thirty years, it is a vibrant, warm ‘village’ overflowing with character, wonderful people and great food.

Favourite place for brunch:

The Conduit Club. The breakfast/brunch menu is healthy but also indulgent. The atmosphere is relaxed, and they have a no phone policy in parts of the club which I love!

Best coffee in London:

La Caffettiera on Kensington Church Street – no one makes coffee like Reno! The food is also wonderful! All homemade, traditional Italian specialties.

Favourite gallery or museum:

The Victoria & Albert Museum and The British Museum – I couldn’t possibly choose. I always recommend friends going for somewhere tranquil and incredibly interesting to visit. Your mind can just wonder… Please do not forget to see all areas of both! Lots of hidden treasures to be found.

Tell us a secret:

My husband is an exceptional cook.

Favourite place to find inspiration:

Everywhere. London never ceases to inspire me. When at home, it is old Hollywood movies. Anything with Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor or Sophia Loren.

Best London destination for a date:

La Poule au Pot in Chelsea. The food is sumptuous and the atmosphere very romantic.

Favourite park:

Holland Park. Leighton House in Holland Park is also a hidden jewel of London. Just magical with all its Arabesque interiors and fountain, it also houses an incredible art collection.

Favourite food Market:

Portobello Market

Your sanctuary in the city:

My private studio in the garden of the boutique. I can sketch surrounded by the scent of the wild roses and the lemons we are growing while I hear the busy chatter of the atelier… it is dreamlike.

What inspires you?:

Women. The great women in my life! And my clients. One of the greatest parts of my job is that I am given the opportunity to meet incredible women whom I may never of met otherwise.

This season I’m loving:

The Amazon Rainforest which I pay tribute to in Spring/Summer 2020 collection. BENVENISTE COUTURE is proudly ethically and sustainably conscious taking inspiration from the world of nature I believe we all must protect as much as we can. The fashion industry owes this!
