Material Success shows the trials and tribulations of the two months leading up to his first fashion show in Toronto in 2009.
We caught up with him for the latest in our interview series to talk fashion, life and of course London.
Shoreditch – a walk of its streets is great for shopping and taking in window art and makes for a great outdoor afternoon, something that with the onset of super malls is becoming rare.
Favourite place for brunch:
The Breakfast Club: The big day breakfast-brunch, it’s casual with a no prep, no pressure vibe. You just relax, eat and enjoy a bit of nerve shutdown. I love a no-effort brunch.
Best coffee in London:
Monmouth. I live off lattes. If I can do one thing right in the morning it’s have a latte, especially anything close to the softer latte macchiato, a Roman delight.
Favourite gallery or museum:
The Victoria & Albert Museum. Saturated with design, it’s a place to expand your view and is a vast kingdom of beauty, an interpretation of all that is creative.
The Shard. It’s a late night hit of sparkle, a majestic tower like a jousting sword penetrating the sky.
Favourite place to shop:
Harvey Nichols. I would love to sell my collections there. Another great shopping destination is Oxford Circus.
Favourite place to find inspiration:
A quiet-cozy place in a meditative zone, a secluded place by the river Thames. The closer you are to massive congestion and noise the better finding that one place that is rendered free of all distractions is, it’s what calms the soul.
Best London destination for a date:
Sketch. Its multiple dinning rooms are relaxing, open and fun. This place has the coolest washrooms.
Clapham Common. It’s nice and flat great for running and laying in a warm spring sunshine to melt away the winter.
Favourite food market:
Broadway Market. Tempt the taste buds and walk off what you eat. It will cater to both the delicious and healthy side of your own personal eating habits.
Your sanctuary in the city:
Columbia Flower Market. Endless beauty of flowers on a perfumed morning – it’s a canvas of pure colours in contrast, like an abstract painting.
What inspires you?
Being part of daily human existence and able to tap into and absorb all life’s emotions – that filters into my own creations.
This season I’m loving:
Everything that breathes! My creations flow from my artistic instincts, the materials bring those designs to life. It’s an important aspect of fashion that is often overlooked and is the meaning of living, breathing art.
