Roberta Benteler is the Founder and Managing Director of luxury fashion site Avenue 32. Based here in the capital and created to be “the ultimate shopping neighbourhood, ” the company was recently awarded Best Online Retailer of the Year by Pure London. Originally from Germany, Roberta was educated in the UK and has a background in finance and private equity. Her business acumen and international outlook stood her in good stead when stepping into the world of e-commerce. Here she shares with us her favourite things about London.

Favourite neighbourhood:

I spend a lot of time in East London, especially Broadway Market and London Fields. That area of London has by far the best, cafes, pubs and bars.

Favourite place for brunch:

That’s a close call between Caravan Kings Cross and the Modern Pantry in Clerkenwell.

Best coffee in London:

Climpson and Sons on Broadway Market.

Favourite gallery or museum:

Definitely the V&A.

Favourite building:

Battersea Power station.

Favourite place to shop:

Avenue 32 and Celine on Mount Street.

Favourite place to find inspiration:

East London, it just has a special creative energy.

Best London destination for a date:

The Petersham Nurseries.

Favourite park:

Hampstead Heath.

Favourite food market:

Borough Market.

Your sanctuary in the city:

My bathtub.
