My London: LizzB London founders Suzie and Nada Saidi

Fans of the espadrille since their teens and coupled with their love of beautiful accessories, LizzB London founder sisters Suzie & Nada Saidi started hand embellishing plain espadrilles for their own use.

After repeated commission requests for their bespoke and unique creations, their passion culminated in the decision to create the LizzB London brand to commercially produce a collection of their espadrille designs.

The LizzB London range of espadrilles uses quality linen, leather and bespoke hand embellished finishing touches combined with contemporary fashion-led and playful designs underlying the spirited signature of the brand.

We caught up with Suzie and Nada for the latest in our ‘My London’ series.

Favourite neighbourhood:

I think we both agree it would have to be Richmond with its open spaces and wonderful river walks. Feels like your miles from the city centre.

Favourite place for brunch:

Zoran’s Delicatessen in St Margarets, a stroll away from the studio, where they cook the most delicious eggs any style served with crispy bacon, chorizo and good coffee. Can’t not mention Brixton Village Market which is great too; you can eat your way around the globe and people watch too.

Best coffee in London:

Our office where you can’t beat a homemade strong espresso coffee made in a Moka pot.

Favourite gallery or museum:

Without a doubt it’s got to be the V&A. It’s a treasure trove for research and inspiration.

Tell us a secret:

We can’t, if we did that it wouldn’t be a secret anymore.

Favourite place to shop:

We both love Selfridges. It’s got everything from high street to designer fashion and we always make a beeline for the shoe department with a diversion on the way out to pick up some delicious food from the deli counters.

Favourite place to find inspiration:

Our inspiration doesn’t necessarily come from one particular place; it’s a combination of mood and a general attitude. It could be a place, architecture, textiles and most certainly our travels.

Best London destination for a date:

The Electric Cinema Portobello; double sofas on the back row, mood lighting, cashmere blankets to snuggle under, accompanied with a glass of wine and tasty bar snack.

Favourite park:

You are spoilt for choice in London because there are so many beautiful parks but for us it has to be Marble Hill on the banks of the Thames. It’s a beautiful park and has a special resonance for us as we planted a memorial tree for our mum in the grounds.

Favourite food market:

Borough Market. It’s an amazing market that has fabulous produce from everywhere. Not only is it a great market to do a grocery shop in, it’s has a buzzy vibe and vast array of street food to satisfy the foodies that we are.

Your sanctuary in the city:

Time out in the Cowshed Spa Spitalfields for some indulgent treatments and relaxation.

What inspires you?

Observations of the world that surrounds us; people, colours, places, art, travel etc.

This season I’m loving:

We’re loving that flat shoes are de rigueur this season for both day and evening wear. Comfort reigns.
