We caught up with Kirk for the latest in our ‘My London’ interview series.

Favourite neighbourhood:

Chiswick, its just far enough out of London and has a real community feel. I also love Brompton Road & the streets around that area very quintessentially English.

Favourite place for brunch:

Chiswick fire station, they did an amazing job with a fantastic space.

Best coffee in London:

Hack and Veldt, I cant decide if it’s the welcoming staff or the coffee, they serve Monmouth coffee one of my favourites. Café Nero is by far the best high street option they do a great flat white.

Favourite gallery or museum:

The Wallace collection, It’s very eclectic and somewhere you can keep returning to.

Tell us a secret:

I cook almost every night, I specialise in Thai food having been taught how to cook by the chef of the late King of Thailand! I started as a cook in restaurants before working my way up and get a lot of satisfaction from cooking traditional Turkish dishes as my parents originated from there, German food as well due to my upbringing but I experiment with anything & everything. It’s my great passion.

Favourite place to shop:

Liberty’s, it’s the experience as much as the carefully sourced brands, its terribly English which I love & feels like you are shopping in someone’s tudor mansion. You don’t feel like you are actually shopping there, shopping can be quite stressful for me. I’m a straight in & out guy.

Favourite place to find inspiration:

You can find inspiration from anywhere but on a busy day I take myself off to one of the London parks, Greenwich Park and THAT view over London as you reach the highest point is pretty special, especially on a clear day.

Best London destination for a date:

Brasserie Zedel, I took my future wife there on a first date so it definitely worked. It has entertaining cabaret, a lovely bar, great restaurant if you then want dinner that isn’t too pretentious, it’s very classy. It’s also slap bang in the centre of Piccadilly and easy to access so if it doesn’t go well you can escape pretty quickly.

Favourite park:

Greenwich Park as I mentioned above, I have a lot of castings around the East End & running around all day from meetings to casting & work, If I have time I take myself over to Greenwich and chill on the hill.

Favourite food market:

Borough Market, is there any other market in London even worth mentioning?

Your sanctuary in the city:

London Library, you don’t even have to read a book but you are guaranteed peace and quiet. I go to a few of the David Lloyds Gyms too around town, not just to work out but to just chill in the sauna or Jacuzzi or just take my laptop and use the work space. There are so many reasons to be a member of a good gym. Always somewhere to go to kill the time and feel like you’ve achieved something with it.

What inspires you?

Nature and everything that comes with it. I love holidays in the countryside. I now have a new house with a garden, surrounded by fields and green outside our village. & food and cooking, I can whip up something out of nothing.

This season I’m loving:

Spending my first summer in my own garden, seeing my fruit & veg patches come alive. Spending as much time outdoors as I can with nature.
