From luxurious to budget-friendly, here is our guide to the best London plus size clothing stores and brands, including our favourite online-only label.
Innovative for its time, Marina Rinaldi was established in 1980 as a brand that offered women’s ready-to-wear beyond an Italian size 46 (a UK size 14). The label became a positive voice that changed how the fashion industry talked about choice and wearability for curvaceous, “plus-size” women. Though at the pricier end of the spectrum, the label is famed for its quality fabrics and attention to detail in tailoring. You will find elegant eveningwear, shoes and accessories as well as ‘sport’ and ‘city’ collections at its Bond Street store.

Trained at Harrods, Beige Plus founder Leanda Walters found herself increasingly frustrated at the lack of choice for fashion-conscious women of her size. “As a young woman I struggled with my size, even maintaining size 14 was difficult and I always felt so wretched at not being able to purchase any of the beautiful clothes that I was working with,” she says. The brand boasts three London stores, all staffed by sales teams hand-picked by Leanda herself. “We like to think that the advice we give would be as if we were your best friend, better in some cases.” Alongside Beige’s own collections, you will find pieces from Not Your Daughter’s Jeans (NYDJ), Anna Scholz, Spanx and Basler.

Dea London is the brain child of Jelena Fehmi – a tailoring and pattern cutting expert who believes that clothes for curvaceous women should not just fit, they should be extremely flattering. Each collection is manufactured here in the UK, using materials and fabrics sourced from the UK, Germany and Italy. Our favorite pieces for Autumn/Winter ’14 include the Lorna and Angela dresses, defined by pops of burnt-orange and cobalt. Every piece is available in sizes 16 to 26 and the brand offers a bespoke made-to-measure service. Only available online, check out the expert measuring guide on the Dea website to find out how to ensure the most flawless fit from your order.
With its emphasis on confidence, beauty and accessibility, Evans is a high-street mecca for women sized 14 to 32. Every sales advisor attends ‘Flatter’ training sessions to ensure they know exactly what to pick out from the collections for each individual customer. The store’s latest offering is hot Danish label Carmakoma, aimed at women who are “strong, independent and in love with fashion” – we love the ‘smudge print’ dresses from the collection. Also stocked at Evans are Live Unlimited London and Pink Clove, more on which below…

Live Unlimited London
Coming “from London with love,” Live Unlimited wants women of every shape to feel confident and effortless, but most of all to celebrate themselves. The brand’s latest collection, styled to perfection in the lookbook online, shows just how flattering and fresh prints can be, especially in graphic black and white.
Also available at Evans and online, Pink Clove’s budget-friendly collections are defined by bright and pretty prints and unbelievable comfy fabrics. Some of the chicest pieces – such as the latest Azul Rose peplum dress – are limited-edition, so be sure to snap them up quickly. The collections are available in sizes 16 to 28.
