Kimonos: The perfect Summer cover-up

Features | | Leave a Comment

From the Spring ’14 catwalks to Coachella, kimonos are having a moment this season. Flattering on any frame and perfect for this warm but not scorching weather we are experiencing in the capital, kimonos can be either bohemian and casual or more glamorous, depending on how you style them, and are easy to layer over camisoles and tank tops that we all already have tucked away at the back of our wardrobes.

Some of our favourite versions from Spring ’14 fashion week include shimmering but weightless silk styles at Gucci, a fringed printed piece by New York’s boho queen Anna Sui and a longer length, decadently gold embroidered style from Roberto Cavalli.

If your budget doesn’t stretch to these luxury brands, we have found some chic affordable styles by F&F. Try the mixed floral and lace print and floral print styles (£20 and £16 respectively) over a tonal cami and with jeans for brunch with friends, ice cream outings or low-key drinks. After something a little more dramatic? The limited-edition geometric style in black (£28) is the perfect cool alternative to a biker jacket or blazer for summer evenings.
