No, not Kate Moss – she’s got John Galliano (we wonder if she’s starting to regret that now..?) – we’re talking about future English Princess Kate Middleton. Rumours have been flying everywhere over the past week that Sarah Burton, current creative director at Alexander McQueen, has been commissioned to design the dress for Kate’s big day.
The Sunday Times broke the story, reporting that McQueen CEO Jonathan Akeroyd let slip to a colleague that the company had won the commission. He quickly dismissed the idea by saying, “No, not at all. I am the CEO. I would know if we were doing it.” Ouch.
Sarah Burton also made herself very clear by delivering the simple line, “I’m not doing it.”
Buckingham Palace later released a statement saying, “We are not commenting on speculation about the designer’s identity. Miss Middleton wants it to be a surprise for Prince William on the day.”
Even though it seems a McQueen wedding dress is unlikely, we’d still love to see Kate in some McQueenadillos. Which of these looks do you think she could pull of best?
