Topshop Unique is normally all about the eccentricity. Last season inspiration came from Cleopatra in modern-day London, before that it was 101 Dalmatians, but for autumn/winter 2012 things have toned down quite significantly.
A basic palette of grey, black and khaki were the building blocks of the slightly more drab collection, which had a strong grunge feel with sprinkles of military. All the utilitarian trimmings were there – hats, zips, leather belts and chunky socks – making it difficult to distinguish anything ‘unique’ at all.
If you want an easy urban wardrobe, then it’s spot on, but if you want something with a bit more shabang then maybe wait until next season.
