A pub claiming to be the UK’s smallest rooftop pub has opened in London above the John Lewis Flagship store on Oxford Street.

The Gardener’s Arms measuring 6ft by 8ft is part of John Lewis’s pop-up Gardening Society rooftop garden and visitors can enjoy their drinks in the green surroundings while taking in panoramic views of the city.

The pub serves wine, bottled beer and cider, and cocktails with a summer theme.

John Lewis’s rooftop garden was designed by Tony Wood who previously won the title of RHS National Young Garden Designer of the Year. The pub was an integral part of the design, intended as symbol of British summertime.

The garden contains plants and herbs from all over Britain including wild garlic and blackberries. The Gardening Society and the pub are both intended as a place to allow customers to catch up with friends and escape the hustle and bustle of the busy shopping streets below.

The Gardening Society at John Lewis Oxford Street branch will stay open until 4 September. The roof is open from midday until 9pm and 11pm on from Thursday to Saturday.
