Two of London’s most exciting designers, Simone Rocha and Thomas Tait, have been named as finalists in line for luxury conglomerate LVMH’s Young Fashion Designer Prize.
LVMH’s Delphine Arnault described the finalists to WWD: “There are some that are dressier, some that are more casual, some that are more sporty. It’s a very good mix.”
Simone Rocha’s most recent collection, inspired by a visit to the Elizabeth I exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, wowed the critics at London Fashion Week. Fellow Central Saint Martins alumnus Thomas Tait also impressed attendees with his sharp, colour-bright collection that pushed his boundaries as a designer.
Some of fashion’s most respected names, including Marc Jacobs and Nicholas Ghesquière, are charged with selecting a winner, to be announced on May 28th. As well as some expert coaching from LVMH, the winner will receive $300,000.
