Selfridges unveils London’s smallest cocktail bar

Hot on the heels of Selfridges’ champagne vending machine comes the department store’s mobile cocktail bar.

The cocktail bar, which claims to be the smallest in London, has been designed by Lee Broom and will be operated by chef and restaurateur Mark Hix.

The bar transports visitors to 1960s America, and is inspired by silhouettes and materials of the time, when entertainment at home was rising in popularity.

The bar is currently situated in the Men’s Shoe Galleries, but has the ability to be moved around the store, for whichever department requires a bit of a sprucing up!

Mark’s Bar is being dubbed by Lee Broom’s Studio as ‘the first of its kind in a retail environment, and the smallest cocktail bar in London’.

‘I have a great deal of experience in furniture, bar and high end retail design, so combining all three disciplines into one brief was an exciting prospect,’ says Broom, who has combined a sideboard, a hostess trolley and a tall-boy drawer set to form the main components of the bar.

After spot of shopping we can think of nothing better than unwinding with a cocktail in the beautiful surrounds of this one of a kind bar.
