Selfridges report profit boost from luxury and high street mix

Department store Selfridges are set to report a 19 per cent boost in profits over the last year, which they say is all thanks to their mixture of high-end and high street brands. The Press Association report that sales in Selfridges’ London, Manchester and Birmingham stores have risen 11 per cent, raising their profits to a cool £127 million.

More luxury and lower end brands have recently been added to their extensive portfolio, including high street favourites H&M and Primark.

The store’s managing director Anne Pitcher told the Sunday Times: “Within the last three weeks, we’ve launched Prada, Dior and Tom Ford in menswear and Cheap Monday in the Oxford Street store. In Birmingham, we opened Primark and Ralph Lauren in menswear. This makes Selfridges welcome to everybody.”
