Alexander McQueen designer Sarah Burton has been named in Time magazine’s annual ‘100 Most Influential People’ list. Manchester-born Burton is joined on the list by footballing demi-God Lionel Messi, Homeland actress Claire Danes and leader of the free world Barack Obama.
Sarah Burton took over the reins at Alexander McQueen following founder Lee McQueen’s suicide in 2010. She was catapulted into the spotlight last year when she was revealed as the designer of the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress.
Actress Sarah Jessica Parker paid tribute to Burton’s accolade saying “She is a young woman who shouldered an enormous burden and privilege with dignity, heart and strength”.
