Royal Ascot 2012: Fashion police to enforce dress code

News | | Leave a Comment

Dress Code Assistants will be patrolling at this weekend’s Royal Ascot, ensuring that punters are correctly dressed in line with the new dress code for 2012.

The assistants will be positioned at the entrance turnstiles and will issue waistcoats, ties, pashminas and other items to people not adhering to the strict new rules.

As of January 2012, mini-skirts were banned, as skirts must be of “a modest length” and “fall just above the knee or longer”. Fascinators are also forbidden in the Royal Enclosure, as hats must have base of four inches or more. Men must also get it right, as cravats have been banned, with only black or grey morning dress with a waistcoat and tie permitted.
