Stylist magazine is celebrating the publication of its 400th issue with a special “Robot Takeover” edition.
Robots are featured throughout the magazine including fashion spreads shot by drones, makeup applied by bots, and using a guest font created by a robot. Editorial features showcase the role of robots in society today and discuss how technology has transform our day-to-day lives including 3D printing meals, checking into a hotel, and even teaching yoga classes.
Three of the features in the magazine, including thoughts on feminism, this year’s spring fashion trends, and how to achieve the perfect work-life balance, were written by Articoolo – an AI system specialising in content creation.
The cover model is Sophia – the first AI robot to be granted citizenship of a country. She also appears inside the magazine, in an eight-page spread modelling the season’s hottest dresses, alongside an interview where she reveals the meaning of life and the secret to happiness.
Editor of the magazine, Susan Riley, said: “At a time where our reliance upon, and use of, technology is continuing to increase, this issue is an incredible step forward in showcasing the power of AI, with the entire edition taken over by robots. It feels natural to look to the future as we continue to evolve.”
Stylist has previously launched several “Made by…” anniversary editions including takeovers by politicians, celebrities, and readers.
