In a move that may surprise fashion editors and observers of British fashion, it was announced today that Richard Nicoll is to join Jack Wills as creative director.

The role is part time, giving Nicoll enough time to also concentrate on his growing eponymous label. Speculation is now bound to grow about what direction he will take the brand in. Jack Wills is known for its preppy ‘University Outfitter’ look – an aesthetic quite different from the slick vision of Nicoll. Of the appointment he said, “I’m excited to be working with Jack Wills, this is an opportunity to take a successful British design aesthetic and drive forward the product and vision.”

Jack Wills CEO Wendy Becker added, “Richard’s arrival shows how far Jack Wills has come – and indicates our ambition as we grow further. His aesthetic and talent in designing for both men and women will be a great match for our future.”
