Petit Bateau opened its first dedicated menswear and womenswear pop-up shop on Charlotte Road in Shoreditch last Friday, in time for the beginning of fashion week.
Open for one month only, the space has been designed by London landscape practice Wayward Plants, who have filled it with lush tropical flora and slated wood as a backdrop to the collections.
Famous for its Breton-striped tops, Petit Bateau celebrated its 120th anniversary last year and “focuses on simple wardrobe staples and reinvents the classics each season.” Its signature pieces include the marinière, the raincoat, the Caban, T-shirts and underwear.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, Gildas Loaec and Masaya Kuroki of French fashion brand Kitsuné joined as artistic directors, and now oversee the adult collections. Among their creations you can expect Cotton jackets and anoraks in sugar almond pastels and bright ?oral jerseys as well as nautical stripes, graphic sweatshirts and knitwear.
