The show, which was inspired by Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, was set in the enclosed glass dome that is Paris’ Grand Palais and featured birdsong throughout. The Chanel Haute Couture collection offered beautifully elegant and chic designs crafted with the finest techniques in the Chanel atelier.

Piles of chiffon leaves were worn in every model’s hair, with feathered eyelashes to match, adding to the dramatic and romantic scene created by Lagerfeld. The collection showed off framed shoulders and structure throughout. Day looks included ribbon tweeds while evening outfits included lace, floral puffs and heavy embroidery, creating dense tactile looks. Largerfeld’s godson, Hudson, made an appearance in the finale where he took part in a marital scene causing controversy in France, where we saw two brides due to wed.

A stunning show from Chanel, with seamless elegance between day and night looks as the couture story unfolded.
