It may not be the most conventional birthday present, but in celebration of Vivienne Westwood’s 70 years of life good friend Pamela Anderson has bought her a 70 acre plot of rainforest.
Pamela has joined forces with UK charity Cool Earth to protect the plot of rainforest, which is about the same size as London’s St James’ Park. The actual plot is part of a rainforest in Peru named Ashaninka, as shown in the official certificate below. Anderson, who became Westwood’s friend and muse in 2009, reportedly wanted to give Vivienne a meaningful gift, saying: “I’m really excited to support Cool Earth and give Vivienne such an incredible rainforest gift. She is one of my favourite people.”
Westwood is known for her dedication to the environment, climate change campaigns and the Cool Earth charity. Her unique birthday gift will enable her to act as a sponsor for the area, which will be put back into the hands of local people to protect.
