The Victoria and Albert Museum has announced it will be presenting a series of free catwalk shows, Fashion in Motion: Molly Goddard, as part of the REVEAL festival celebrating the opening of the new V&A Exhibition Road Quarter.

London-based designer Molly Goddard is a graduate of Central Saint Martins College and is known for her traditional textile techniques including smocking, crocheting, and hand pleating. She won the British Emerging Talent award at the 2016 Fashion Awards and was a recent finalist for the LVMH prize.

The catwalk shows will showcase the designer’s newest pieces alongside some of her most famous designs from previous collections. One of Goddard’s garments is currently on display at the V&A as part of the Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion exhibition.

The shows will take place in the Sainsbury Gallery, a new exhibition space for temporary exhibitions in the V&A Exhibition Road Quarter.

Molly Goddard said about the event: “I’ve always thought of the V&A as an enormous cabinet of curiosities. I grew up exploring the galleries and they continue to be a huge source of inspiration for me.”

The REVEAL festival runs for a week from 30 June to 7 July. Other free activities open to the public during the week include art and design commissions, performances, fashion, and family activities.

There will be four fashion shows on 7 July at 1pm, 3pm, 5pm, and 8pm. Tickets can be booked free of charge via the V&A website from 10am on Monday, 26 June. The 3pm show will also be livestreamed on the V&A Facebook page.
