The House of McQueen, a favourite label of the Duchess of Cambridge, has unveiled the new Autumn/Winter campaign for its second label, McQ Alexander McQueen, and it pays homage to the designer’s iconic signatures.
Described as a “love story” between McQueen and British fashion, the fact that this collection is so reminiscent of its old master gives it a dark edge. McQueen‘s Savile Row training was never far from his collections, and Sarah Burton’s womenwear lineup here features sharp tailoring that pays painstaking, yet perfect, attention to the female silhouette. The iconic tartan, a symbol of Lee McQueen’s Scottish heritage, makes a resurgence and the trophy pieces from the range are breathtaking military coats and jackets.
The menswear has a similar influence, with khaki wool felt tailoring, flannel shirting and heavy ribbed sweaters.
