British designer Matthew Williamson is heading stateside to create a capsule collection for American department store Macy’s. He’s been enlisted by the retailer to help woo younger customers and project a more youthful image for the brand.
The collection will consist of around 30 items, made up of embellished dresses, printed scarves, blouses, leather jackets and playful romper suits. Prices start at an affordable $50 (£31).
Matthew told WWD, “The collection aims to capture the essence of the mainline brand, with a focus on effortless glamour; dynamic prints; loosely structured silhouettes, and pops of strong colour.”
In the past Macy’s have collaborated with other high-profile designers, such as Kinder Aggugini, while next in line is Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld.
The collection will launch on April 13th in 225 stores and on MACYS.COM.
