The Pleasure Gardens Distilling Company has released a new premium gin, Marylebone, which will be sold exclusively in Selfridges.
The Pleasure Gardens Distilling Company is located on the original site of the Marylebone Pleasure Gardens, a 17th and 18th century garden located in the village of Marylebone, before it become part of London city at the end of the 18th century.
The gardens included a bowling green, gravel walkways, and fruit trees, and was a popular location for concerts and other entertainment such as cock-fighting and boxing.
The distillery itself dates back to 1762 and claims to be London’s most central spirits distillery.
Marylebone Gin uses 13 floral botanicals that were present in the original gardens including chamomile, grapefruit, and lime flower. The gin was released as a tribute to this important piece of Marylebone and London history.
The spirit is a classic London dry gin, distilled in small batches, with an ABV of 50.2%. It is available at Selfridges stores at a price of £55 for 70cl.
