The organisers behind London Fashion Week today announced that legendary shoe designer Manolo Blahnik has been added to the schedule for SS14. His presentation will be from 10am to 4pm on Sunday 15th September.
The news adds yet more credibility and importance to London Fashion Week, which boasts Burberry Prorsum on the lineup and NET-A-PORTER founder Natalie Massenet as chair of the British Fashion Council, not to mention a growing roster of internationally renowned home-grown talent.
Blahnik became a house hold name after a pair of his shoes featured in a Sex and the City episode (What Goes Around Comes Around – Season 3) when Carrie is mugged for her bag and her Manolos, uttering the now-famous line: “You can take my Fendi baguette, you can take my ring and my watch, but please don’t take my Manolo Blahniks.”
The Spanish-born designer famously called Kate Middleton “the most ravishing” member of the royal family, has confessed that he “hates platforms” and, mostly importantly, believes that “there is nothing charming about a woman who cannot walk in her shoes.” We can’t wait to see what he has in store for London next month.
