It’s a sure sign that Christmas is round the corner when all of London’s major departments stores spruce up their window displays and get into the festive spirit. From Harrods, to Liberty and John Lewis, this year the window displays in London have truly outdone themselves. We took a tour of the very best so that you could see the spectaculars even if you’re not in London.
The Harrods Christmas window always draws a big crowd, and it’s hardly surprising given the level of detail and creativity that goes into it. This year sees a Disney theme with each window has a Disney Princess imagined in a Harrods style – think real diamond tiaras and a Louboutin take on the glass slipper
Bold, bright and dazzling are three words that come to mind when describing the Harvey Nichols Christmas window. Little luxuries such as a pair of Jimmy Choo’s, an Anya Hindmarch bag or a Tom Ford fragrance are nestled away amongst the glittering decorations in eye-catching displays.
Selfridges’ Christmas windows are encased in twinkling garlands and inside each, a different aspect of Christmas is shown – from a sleeping Santa in his sleigh full of presents, to children enjoying a feast fit for queens or a pearly king. And of course we mustn’t forget about the Children In Need Pudsey Bear window, or the animated Anya Hindmarch display too!
Under a shop face of twinkling lights, John Lewis has succeeded in showcasing some excellent winter clothing, accessories and gift ideas. Look at the great winter fashions, oogle at the amazing homeware window (we want it all) or pick a gift from the dedicated men’s and women’s windows. Christmas is wrapped up rather nicely here.
In the small Christmas windows of Liberty we take a ride on the Liberty express. Displays show a Christmas feast complete with a diamond-adorned turkey and stunning tablewear, a cocktail party replete with sparkling accessories, as well as a to-die-for dressing table showing the latest in beauty and with a mannequin in a rather stunning gold dress.
