Lady Gaga is back people. Following the release of her latest single ‘Judas’, the crazy pop star landed in London ahead of her gig at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, wearing a dramatic monochrome outfit by Liz Black.
The dress was just the start of her 1980s look, as her elbow length gloves, large rimmed hat, gold coin earrings and over-sized sunnies chanelled Julie Roberts ala Pretty Woman. The circle shaped dress was clearly the main focus of the outfit and designer Liz Black, a former Fashion Fringe winner, has now had one of her dreams come true. “I always hoped Lady Gaga would one day wear one of them [her dresses], she has always been a great inspiration to me. [The dress] is sensational on its own, however on Lady Gaga it is extraordinary!” she said.
After a brief waltz around London, Gaga made her way up to Carlisle to take the headline spot at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, delivering a monstrous set of old and new tunes, including a sprinkle of jazz. Particular focus was on her new album, with Gaga revealing new tracks ‘You & I’ and ‘Edge of Glory’ to the thousands who occupied the tent.
Talk of the night, however, was her array of black leather outfits. Starting with a bizarre black PVC pregnancy suit, she emerged from a coffin for opening track ‘Born This Way’, sporting a new black and blonde hairstyle. She quickly swapped the fake belly for leather bandage dress with a floor-length mesh wrap, which she later ditched in order to take to the piano for her slower track ‘Speechless’.
Lady Gaga then finished up in a leather bra, knickers complete with crucifix emblem and a Zorro style eye mask, fitting for her religious-centred track, Judas.
Her latest monochrome looks are a world away from her colourful leotards of the past, but no less outrageous.
