Karl Lagerfeld has offered his creative hand to the latest biography of Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel, the founder of the luxury Parisian brand. It is said he admired Justine Picardie’s first edition of the book so much that he teamed up with the author for the French version.
His contribution includes a handful of original sketches of the company’s name sake, wearing some signature Chanel styles. The book, published by Steidl, documents Gabrielle’s life as part of London’s high society during the 40s and 50s and her love affair with a German official.
To celebrate the release of the French edition Lagerfeld and Picarde, a British journalist, will be holding a signing session and cocktail night on March 24 at bookstore Galignani, in the centre of Paris. A British version is set for release in June.
