Karl Lagerfeld has taken his first step (yes, really) into a supermarket for French Elle as part of a tongue-in-cheek photoshoot, where the German designer is seen doing everyday tasks, like the rest of us normal people.
In one snap he’s seen perusing the shelves in a supermarket, while models Saskia de Brauw and Caroline Brasch Nielsen push the trolley wearing head-to-toe K by Karl Lagerfeld. The set up is made all the more humorous by the post-shoot in the accompanying interview. “It’s the first time I’ve stepped into a supermarket. It’s crazy — fascinating what one can buy. There’s enough here to easily gain 20 kilos,” said Karl.
In further snaps he’s pictured stuck behind the wheel in a traffic jam and flicking through daily French sports newspaper L’Equipe – completely fictional scenarios for the pension-aged designer who hasn’t driven since the age of 18, and sure doesn’t seem to be a fan of sports.
