The luxury stationary and leather goods label, Smythson, have announced an upcoming collaboration with the British designer Jonathan Saunders. Like Holly Fulton and Erdem before him, Saunders will be the next designer to lend his trademark style to a range of notebooks, iPad cases and 2012 diaries.
Previous lines by Fulton and Erdem were a sell-out success and Saunders has spoken enthusiastically about the collaboration. “I’ve really enjoyed my collaboration with Smythson…It’s been exciting for me to see prints and colours from my collection translated into such beautiful products. I’ve always felt a strong affinity between what I design and Smythson,” he said.
Both brands share a love for colour, with a focus on detail and quality. The range will feature William Morris-esque prints, colour blocking and flora and fauna imagery.
The designs are inspired by Saunders latest runway collection, and are part of a continuing project between Smythson and emerging British talent. The label’s creative director, Samantha Cameron, who has been frequently spotted in Saunders’ designs, said: “Our collaboration with Jonathan marks the continuation of Smythson’s work with British design talent.”
