John Galliano stripped of Légion d’Honneur

French president Francois Hollande has stripped John Galliano of his Légion d’Honneur award. The former creative director of Christian Dior was made Chevalier of the Légion d’Honneur at the Elysee Palace in 2012 for services to fashion. This was the highest accolade available, but the decision to now withdraw the honour has come as a result of his conviction last year, when he was found guilty of making racist and anti-semitic comments.
