Poor John Galliano. Not only did he lose his job as Dior’s creative director last month, but today it was announced that he has been officially sacked from his own label.
According to WWD, the board of the 17-year-old John Galliano label met recently and decided to eject the British born designer from the company. Creative control is said to be handed over to the brand’s in-house designers, who are apparently working on a spring 2012 collection already.
The series of dismissals follow the leak of a video, filmed in a Parisian bar, showing Galliano making anti-Semitic remarks. His behaviour has since cost him his job and reputation, spurring him to check into an American rehab facility shortly after the scandal.
Galliano is set to stand trial on a charge of public insult on May 12th and could face months in prison, as well as a fine of 22,500 euros.
