Browns’ iconic founder Joan Burstein was awarded with a Lifetime Achieve accolade by Walpole last night, in recognition of her vision and determination over her long career in retail in London.
Michelle Emmerson, Walpole British Luxury’s CEO, told Vogue: “Mrs B – as she is widely known – has been integral to the rise of the British fashion scene, and her discovery of globally recognised talents from John Galliano to Alexander McQueen has helped put British luxury on the international map. Launched in 1970 as a small boutique, the Browns brand has gone from strength to strength and today is widely recognised as one of London’s most iconic fashion destinations.”
The award was presented by British Vogue Editor Alexandra Shulman. “It is exceptional and a great honour, and Alex’s introduction was just overwhelming,” Burstein said of the occasion.
