The elite cycling team, Catford Banks Equipe, held their official launch at the end of February. The team was dressed in their red and orange racing strip and sunglasses, designed by sponsor Jeff Banks.
Banks is a lifelong member of the Catford CC and has sponsored the team since 2014. A keen cyclist, he was also official tailor of Yorkshire’s Grand Départ and designed the official uniforms worn the start of the Tour de France in Leeds in 2014.
Catford Banks Equipe has some new riders for 2017 and several are classed in the top 20 riders in the UK. The teams plans to take part in several races this year including the Premier Calendar Road Race series, UCI Road Races, and other races in France and Belgium.
Jeff Banks presented the 2017 team, saying “We’ve had a truly fantastic 2016 season and it just felt right that the team should be back in amongst the top tier for 2017. We really want to bring riders through to be able to ride at the top level.”
